The 2008 Carlisle City Council election took place on 1 May 2008 to elect members of Carlisle District Council in Cumbria, England. One third of the council was up for election and the council stayed under no overall control. After the election, the composition of the council was *Labour 21 *Conservative 21 *Liberal Democrats 7 *Independent 1 *Vacant 2〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Election Results 2008 )〕 ==Background== Before the election the Labour party held 25 seats, compared to 19 Conservatives, 7 Liberal Democrats and 1 independent.
